Luminaria
Supplies you will need:
• Brown paper lunch bags. Make sure to get as many as you will need to line the
walk to your door
• Pictures of your choosing. You will need two for each sack
• One glow stick, available at a craft or party store, for each sack
• 1 cup sand for each sack
• White craft glue
• Scissors
• Stickers (optional)
Directions:
Color your pictures or cut them out of old Christmas cards. Or draw,
color or paint the symbol for your holiday on both sides of the bag.
After the glue is dry, open the bag and place
about 1 cup of sand in the bottom.
Open the container of glow sticks just before
your guests are expected to arrive, bend them to start them glowing and drop one
inside each sack.
Evenly space the bags on each side of the walkway.
Piñata
1. Blow a round balloon.
2. Add 2oz of glue (half a bottle of school glue) into a bowl and thin with
three cups of water.
3. Tear newspapers into strips, dip them in the glue and stick all around the
balloon. Cover the balloon with four layers of newspaper strips.
4. Let the balloon dry.
5. Paint the pinata in a solid color.
6. Cut crepe paper into strips and cut a fringe along one edge. Stick strips along
the opposite edge of the fringe all around the pinata until it is fully covered. You
can also use crepe streamers instead of strips of crepe paper.
7. Pop balloon.
8. Add cones to create a traditional Mexican star pinata or use our free templates
to create a pig or bear pinata!
9.Make 2 holes at the top of your pinata and insert a piece of rope to hang your
pinata from the ceiling or from a tree branch.
